I followed Joshua's advice and used 3M automotive bug/tar/adhesive remover. Soaked the decals overnight, but by morning it had all evaporated and they'd dried up again. Re-soaked them for about an hour, and with about 15 minutes each of heavy fingernail scraping, they came off.

As George predicted, it left a decal-shaped "ghost" in the clear coat that's barely noticeable and not objectionable. I could probably compound them and then re-clearcoat, but I doubt I'll bother. I finished up with Meguiar's #4 and #7 and they look good. I do dig the "stealth" look now.

Next: Splitfire plug (c'mon, UPS!) and white spacer.
